Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accounts Assistant to join a prominent automotive business based in Trafford Park, Manchester. This Accounts Assistant role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual with a background in finance to take ownership of purchase ledger and credit control duties within a supportive and professional environment.

Duties of an Accounts Assistant:

• Manage purchase ledger tasks, including processing supplier invoices, matching against purchase orders, resolving discrepancies, and reconciling supplier statements
• Support supplier payments by assisting with preparing and executing payment runs
• Handle supplier queries professionally and efficiently
• Monitor customer accounts and outstanding balances, proactively chasing overdue payments
• Resolve customer account queries and payment disputes
• Produce aged debt reports and escalate issues as necessary to support cash-flow targets
• Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and customer communications
• Support cash collection processes and help improve debtor days
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and financial regulations

Requirements of an Accounts Assistant: 

• Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar finance role
• Familiarity with purchase ledger and credit control processes
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills, confident dealing with customers and suppliers
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and work under deadlines
• Professional, resilient, and proactive attitude towards problem-solving
• Good IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Excel
• Ability to challenge discrepancies and see issues through to resolution
• High level of integrity and professionalism
