Spire Cheshire Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager or supervisor to join our Capacity and Utilisation team on a part-time, permanent basis.

In this important operational role, you will work closely with consultants, medical secretaries, clinical teams and senior management to maximise the effective use of theatre, endoscopy and outpatient capacity. You will help ensure that available sessions are allocated efficiently, supporting increased patient throughput, an excellent patient experience and the hospital's overall performance.

Working hours

You will work 15 hours per week on the following fixed working pattern as part of a job-share arrangement:

• Wednesday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
• Friday: 9:00am to 5:00pm

Your role

As Capacity Manager, you will maximise the utilisation and allocation of theatre and outpatient clinic sessions, helping to increase the number of patients seen and treated while supporting revenue generation.

You will work closely with the Senior Management Team, hospital Heads of Department and consultants to support short and long-term business objectives and contribute to the hospital's overall success.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Communicating available capacity across outpatients, theatres, endoscopy and ambulatory theatres to the Medical Society, consultants and their secretaries, helping to minimise downtime in these key areas.
• Building effective partnerships with consultants and medical secretaries, increasing consultant engagement while supporting theatre and outpatient utilisation targets.
• Providing a single point of contact for consultants and medical secretaries regarding theatre lists and the allocation of fixed and ad hoc sessions, with guidance and support from the Theatre Manager.
• Supporting the removal or reallocation of sessions where there is a risk of under-utilisation.
• Obtaining and analysing utilisation data and meeting regularly with consultants to discuss the utilisation of theatre sessions and outpatient clinics.
• Supporting consultants to improve utilisation and escalating routinely under-utilised sessions to the Senior Management Team where appropriate.
• Working closely with clinical departments, including outpatient nursing, wards, theatres, endoscopy and pre-assessment, to ensure the necessary resources are available to support scheduled cases.
• Identifying capacity-related challenges and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop effective solutions.

Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, relationship-building and operational skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively and support the maximisation of capacity within a healthcare environment.

• Previous experience of working within the healthcare industry or a similar customer-focused organisation.
• Strong problem-solving, organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders positively.
• The ability to quickly understand the causes of operational challenges and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to resolve them.
• A willingness to take ownership and responsibility for delivering solutions.
• The ability to prioritise and manage their own workload effectively.
• A strong commitment to increasing patient throughput and maximising the effective use of available capacity.
